TTT Christian Youth Ministries Board Elects New President

Tami Leigh Dooms has been elected President of TTT Christian Youth Ministries by unanimous vote of the Executive Board. She succeeds her father, George H. Dooms, who moves up to a new position as TTT’s Founder / Ambassador At Large.

George Dooms, with his wife Mary, first opened the doors of TTT (formerly known as TRIstate youth for CHRIST) to teenagers on Saturday, February 5, 1966. That first Saturday evening, which was attended by 2 teenagers and a few adults, George said: “We plan to be here every Saturday for 30 years. We will always present the Gospel with an invitation to Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.” George and Mary continued the ministry as promised every Saturday. As TTT neared the 30-year anniversary, there was much more to be accomplished, and thousands of teens and preteens needed to be won to Christ and trained for Christ.

Saturday, February 7, 2015 was TTT’s 49th anniversary and 2,558th consecutive Saturday, beginning the Year of Jubilee, going to February 6, 2016, when, God willing, TTT will celebrate 50 years.

Tami Dooms was born in 1965 in Waco, Texas, and grew up at TTT Christian Youth Ministries. Tami graduated from Trinity Lutheran School Darmstadt in 1979, and was a member of the first graduating class of Evansville Christian High School in 1982. She attended Oakland City University for one year, and transferred to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. As a Liberty student, she was a member of the marching band, involved in intramural sports and tutoring, and worked in the photography department. Tami graduated from Liberty University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science (Summa Cum Laude) in Accounting and a minor in Mathematics.

After graduation, Tami worked in the Liberty University Accounting Department for two years. During that time, she did some graduate work and studied for and passed the Certified Public Accountant examination. In 1987, Tami enrolled as a graduate student at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, in the JD/MBA joint degree program. She graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1990, earning the degrees of Doctor of Jurisprudence (Cum Laude) and Master of Business Administration.

Tami joined the staff of TTT Christian Youth Ministries full time in 1990. She coordinates the day-to-day operations of the organization, working closely with her father, George Dooms (TTT Founder). Fulfilling a lifelong desire to teach, she directs the TIGER*Team peer evangelism and Leading Youth training program for teenagers and preteens. She also leads the Youth Evangelism Academy, which provides Biblical, leadership, and practical training and resources for college-age and adult youth workers. She coordinates the TTT team (staff and volunteers) to produce an evangelistic youth event each Saturday evening, and TIGER*Team IMPACT! evangelistic youth efforts, including Fair Share at county fairs and street festivals.

Tami also serves as President and CEO of Youth Evangelism Association, and as CEO of IMPACT! Christian Communications (TIGER*Team IMPACT!). She is an attorney and CPA, serving as legal advisor to Teen Missions International and providing legal and accounting services for several other Christian organizations. She is Secretary/Treasurer of AIDS Orphans and Street Children, and Treasurer of Motorcycle Sunday School Mission.

George Dooms is a native of Mt. Carmel, Illinois. George and Mary (Greer) began serving the Lord together in youth evangelism and creative Christian communications during their high school days. George attended Greenville (Illinois) College and graduated from Bob Jones University in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts in Practical Christian Training. George co-founded Gospel Advertising Association with his father, W. Lawson Dooms, handling advertising for 100 evangelists. In 1960, he founded Tamiami Youth for Christ in Bradenton, Florida. Shortly thereafter, he became director of advertising and circulation for Youth for Christ magazine and director of promotion for Youth for Christ International. George joined the staff of Word Records in Waco, Texas in 1963, and served as advertising director for Word when Word Books began in 1965. In December 1965, George became director of TRIstate youth for CHRIST, now TTT Christian Youth Ministries. In 1973, he co-founded Youth Evangelism Association with 4 other directors of Youth for Christ ministries across the country.

George and Mary continued their labor of love for the Lord together, and celebrated 64 years of marriage and ministry June 18, 2014. Mary was welcomed to her heavenly home on October 12, 2014. George is continuing full-time with TTT, concentrating on communications and public relations, connecting and reconnecting with leaders in each of the 93 Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky counties within 100 miles of TTT. He is writing the story of youth evangelism in America from 1931 forward. George currently broadcasts Telling The TRUTH radio, aired in 10 states daily, and publishes Telling The TRUTH periodical. He writes a regular newspaper column. George serves as President of TIGER*Team IMPACT!, and on the boards of Youth Evangelism Association and AIDS Orphans and Street Children.
